RATING: 85/100 |
INTRODUCTION |
"Samsara" is the second chapter of a trilogy started about six years ago with the wonderful "Strinkadenn Ys": Seven Reizh's line-up hasn't changed in the meantime. |
SOUNDS LIKE ... |
A wonderful
mix of folk/ethnic music and symphonic rock. The folk side takes inspiration
from the Breton tradition, a very typical sound, halfway to celtic and
Arabian sounds. In "Samsara" the folk side prevail over the
rock side. Their rock side reminds me overall Camel and Pink Floyd music. |
POINTS OF INTEREST |
Everything is almost perfect, heavenly balanced and flowing. Again, we find a wide number of instruments like Harp, flutes, cello, piano and tons of acoustic guitar. Compared to the first album, "Samsara" is as good but it seems better conceived and orchestrated and more homogenous. |
WEAK POINTS |
I think the price only, not so nice unfortunately. The disc is packaged together with a book where the whole story is told. Very nice but expensive. Hope for a more accessible future version. |
FAVOURITE TRACKS |
"O
Redek" "An Touriou" "La longue Marche" "Kouezhan" |
RECOMMENDATION |
Are you tired of the usual and often boring folk-rock album ? Ok, the guys of Seven Reizh have the folk flowing in their veins, it's written in their Dna; it's clear that they're not playing reading. For me another wonderful release by Seven Reizh. Highly Recommended !! |
