INTRODUCTION |
Every kind of introduction is useless: we're talking about Porcupine Tree, one of the most acclaimed and successful bands of the last decade. |
SOUNDS LIKE ... |
Just like the last two releases, "Fear Of A Blank Planet" goes on with the same formula "metal meets psychedelic sound". |
POINTS OF INTEREST |
If you liked the recent and more metal sound of the previous two albums, you won't be disappointed, because the new stuff is as good, more or less. The title-track, "Anesthetize" and "Sentimental" makes the new album worth-having. |
WEAK POINTS |
After the release of "In Absentia" and "Deadwing" I would have expected a further step ahead, a further development of the PT sound. Nothing ! Unfortunately, even some themes remind me old PT stuff and it's not a good thing. One example is the ending part of "Sentimental", very close to the main theme of "Trains". Do you remember ? |
FAVOURITE TRACKS |
"Fear
Of A Blank Planet" "Anesthetize" "Sentimental" |
RECOMMENDATION |
As many critics do in these situations, we can call "Fear Of A Blank Planet" a transition album. I really hope this transition period is ended, at last. No doubt about it's another involving album but I must admit my expectations were much higher. |
