INTRODUCTION |
I have been listening to the whole Phideaux discography for the last two years and I must say I've been learning to know a great artist and an enlightened songwriter. "The Great Leap" is the latest album and the first part of a trilogy. It confirms and strengthens my conviction. |
SOUNDS LIKE ... |
It's hard to labelling his music, you know. "The Great Leap" follows the traces of the previous "313", that featured short and quite simple songs, an acoustic approach as well as some touches of light psychedelic music. |
POINTS OF INTEREST |
It's not a matter of genre or influence: Phideaux Xavier is a great composer and careful to details, arrangements and orchestrations. As told before, songs are quite simple but divinely played with a wide instrument park (violin, Hammond and electric sitar, for example). |
WEAK POINTS |
Just only one: "The Great Leap", just like "313" lacks again of the symphonic/progressive rock side of Phideaux's musical background. Translating: I'm still waiting for another "Beyond Any shadow Of Doubt" or "Chupacabras". But I'm also patient !! |
FAVOURITE TRACKS |
"You And Me
Against a World Of Pain" "Abducted" "Tannis Root" "One Star" |
RECOMMENDATION |
No doubt ! "The Great Leap" is another strong effort and of course it deserves my high recommendation. |
