- Ho già decantato
in diverse occasioni le gesta di questo gruppo francese, un po' troppo frettolosamente
etichettato ed inserito nel calderone progressive metal dalla stampa specializzata
e che invece a mio parere si distingue positivamente dalla maggior parte
degli attori di questo genere.
I Nemo sono innanzitutto cinque ottimi musicisti, soprattutto il cantante
e chitarrista JP Louveton, amante dichiarato dello stile di Michael Schenker,
benché non un virtuoso esibizionista ed il tastierista Guillaime
Fontaine dalle notevoli capacità tecniche. La loro musica vive proprio
sull'efficace integrazione di queste due anime, quella più istintiva
e rockettara di JP e quella più classica, raffinata ed intellettuale
di Guillaime, capace da solo di impreziosire qualsivoglia passaggio strumentale.
Anch'io mi lavo regolarmente le orecchie e quindi sono il primo a scorgere
molto chiaramente le influenze che i vari Dream Theater e compagnia hanno
esercitato sulla loro scrittura ma un ascolto attento ed approfondito è
in grado di far emergere una loro distinta e spiccata personalità.
L'invito è naturalmente quello di gustarvi questo disco dal vivo
costituito da otto tracce ottimamente registrate, utili anche come scorciatoia
per fare la loro prima conoscenza ma senza commetere l'errore di considerarle
il meglio della loro produzione. L'assenza dalla scaletta di un monumento
sonoro come "La Morte Du Scorpion" ed in generale l'ottima qualità
dei tre dischi in studio sinora pubblicati rendono "Immersion Publique"
una buona testimonianza sul palco del loro repertorio ma non sufficiente
per comprendere le ottime potenzialità di questa formazione transalpina.
Ed intanto l'attesa per l'uscita già annunciata del loro quarto album
"Si - Partie 1" cresce ….
- I have praised the
deeds of this french band some times in the recent past. Nemo is often (and
too much in a hurried way) described as a progressive metal band by the
specialized press while I think its music has something more and different
to offer.
First of all, the band features five gifted musicians, especially the singer/guitarist
JP Louveton, a declared lover of Michael Schenker style, though absolutely
not a boring virtuoso of his instrument and the man behind the keyboards
Guillaime Fontaine. Nemo's music just lives around the effective integration
of these two souls, the JP's more instinctive and rock soul with the Guillaime's
one, more classic, refined and intellectual.
Yes It's true, the Dream Theater and overall prog-metal influence sometimes
comes out but their compositions sound fresh an unique.
My first advice is to enjoy these eight songs featured in this very well
recorded live album which can be useful to find the band for the first time.
My second advice is not to make the mistake to consider "Immersion
Publique" as a Nemo's greatest hits: the lack of a "sound monument"
like "La Morte Du Scorpion" and the high quality of all the three
studio albums previously released are two good reasons for going deep.
In the meantime, the waiting for the next album "Si - Partie 1"
is growing more and more ….
