RATING: 85/100 |
INTRODUCTION |
Knight area's debut album, released in 2004, had delighted all the symphonic rock lovers, myself included, with its british sound in the vein of Pendragon, Marillion and Iq. The title of this second album, "Under A New Sign", could make you think of some changes, but I couldn't find them. |
SOUNDS LIKE ... |
…. Their first album. Melodic symphonic rock is their guiding light again, even if I found for the first time a harder guitar sound and epic atmospheres in the vein of Arena. Two examples are "Mastermind" and "Dreamweaver". |
POINTS OF INTEREST |
Everything
is almost perfect from different points of view. Recording is clean, executions
are skilled and fluent. Again, they wrote seven convincing tracks, no
one disappointed me. I think it is enough from an undoubted derivative
work. Besides KA can count of great musicians, including a really gifted singer. |
WEAK POINTS |
The lack of originality. Each instrumental part reminds me another one from the bands I mentioned before. As a matter of fact, It's your choice to consider it a weak point or not. Personally I don't care about it. |
FAVOURITE TRACKS |
"A
Different Man" "Mastermind" "Under A New Sign" "A Different Man Part II" |
RECOMMENDATION |
If you are fond of symphonic rock and you want to do a strict selection of European bands playing this music, I think you'll meet Knight Area for sure and, believe me, you'll love their music. Recommended. |
