RATING: 85/100 |
INTRODUCTION |
Norwegian band Gazpacho is back with its most ambitious and best album, ever ! "Night" is a concept album about the borders between dreams and reality. It's a clear demonstration of strength, fine songwriting and maturity. |
SOUNDS LIKE ... |
As always, latest Marillion. |
POINTS OF INTEREST |
If Gazpacho's fine songwriting was not under discussion, now they fill the lack of substance of the previous albums and manage to create more complex and satisfactory architectures. At last, you can find some guitar solos, of which the previous "Firebirds" was totally lack of . I also found very interesting violin themes throughout the album. |
WEAK POINTS |
Some quite boring vocal parts, but nothing serious and nothing else to underline. |
FAVOURITE TRACKS |
"Dream Of Stone" "Upside Down" "Massive Illusion" |
RECOMMENDATION |
Gazpacho is a mature band now and ready to catch a wider audience, in my opinion. "Night" must be considered as a turning point album in their career and of course it's highly recommended. I think now Marillion have a so heavy duty about their forthcoming album: will the Norwegian apprentices surpass the masters ?? We will end up …. |
