INTRODUCTION |
Do you remember Jerry Richards ? He's the ex-Hawkwind guitar player. Now he's the leader of his own new project called Earth Lab, joined by others ex-Hawkwind members (Steve Swindells, Simon House and Ron Tree), Jon Moss from Culture Club and Winston Blisset from Massive Attack. "Element" features nine tracks divided in five sections: Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Quintessence. |
SOUNDS LIKE ... |
It's a strange but interesting melting pot of World music, Folk, Space-rock, Rock'n'roll and Electronic music. |
POINTS OF INTEREST |
All the different styles are very well balanced and give the album a really welcomed variety. You'll find a wide range from the street rock'n roll of "Digital Age" to the electronic New Age of "New Light", passing through the space-psychedelic rock of "Liquid Crystal Clear". Very good stuff !! |
WEAK POINTS |
Mostly where Electronic music rules the game. |
FAVOURITE TRACKS |
"Eight
& One" "Wheels Part2/We Took The Car" "Liquid Crystal Clear" |
RECOMMENDATION |
Don't expect a copycat of Hawkwind music, but if you're looking for something different and really well done, "Element" could be a clever purchase. |
